2012 Prayer

"My goal is to know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, assuming that I will somehow reach the resurrection from among the dead. Not that I have already reached the goal or am already fully mature, but I make ever effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus." Philippians 3: 10-12

Z Bits of the Week

Volume 2

Peter’s Playground

Mammaw, my grandmother, used to ride a motorcycle when she was a teenager.  This reminds me of what it is like to ride away from the devil and ride up to heaven.  You are the one on the motorcycle and God is your parent and the devil is the enemy (the girl or boy that is trying to hurt you.)  You tell God who is like your parent, and the He gets onto the kid (the devil).

Last night, this is Peter speaking, Nathan and I picked out a song.  My song was Wonderful Cross.  It is where it sings music and shows all these crosses and there was a cross that was funny.  It was frozen.  And it was in cold weather and there were three crosses and they were all in water.  One in front and one in a diagonal behind and the other in a diagonal behind.  This is the song I want to post for you.  See if you can find the crosses I am talking about as you watch.

When we sing these songs it is part of our worship.  You should try it every night.  And it is where you pick a song and then your whole family, brothers and sisters and mom and dad listen to the song.  Just pick one or two songs a night.  Get this book at a store, it is called How God Used a Thunderstorm. You read the book after the songs are done and you pray after it is all done and then you go to bed.

Pete’s Playground Rule of the Week: You should always have a good attitude in school because it helps you to get your school work done faster. If you are in public school, or private school, or homeschool, don’t get distracted when the teacher is not in the room and don’t get wound up.

Nathan’s Nighthawk

Have you ever been to Kidz Kamp?  Because if you haven’t I would like to bring you so you can tag along.  Kidz Kamp is where you can learn a bunch of stuff about God.  We have three meals a day, and there are lots of fun activities and after you are done with lunch there is a playground that you go on. If you don’t want to go on the playground you can swing on the swings or climb a tree.  After lunch you go back to the cabin and then you get your bathing suit on so you can ride the banana boat.  The banana boat is two big long rubber bananas and in the middle is a little square part, sort of, where you can’t go in.  These bananas are pulled by a boat.  At the beginning the drivers tell you not to fall off because the banana fish will get you.  But that is their made up story.  In the evenings you go to this big building and you play games and you can get candy, rubber frogs, and all sorts of stuff.  Would you like to join me when I go in a few months?  And I forgot to mention they give you a free shirt.

Night Flying Technique: If you haven’t gotten one ask your mom to go to the airport and get you a nighthawk so you can fly it around.  I’m kidding.  Try coming to Kidz Kamp because it is really fun.  And if you aren’t going to church I encourage you to go to church.  And I encourage you to go to camp with me.

Dawson’s Dugout

Hi this is Dawson.

How was last week’s challenge?  Did you enjoy playing soccer kickball?
For this week, I would like to share something unexpected.  One night we were enjoying some family time when our dad said that one of our relatives used to drive motorcycles.  The room was silent for awhile until Peter broke it with laughter in disbelief.  Then all of us began to laugh because we have only known this relative as someone who is overly cautious and protective of everything.  Have you ever had a relative who used to drive motorcycles and now is really known as a person who is extremely cautious?  This illustration reminds me of how life can be going in one direction and then turns around and goes another.  It’s like this, if you have accepted Christ you are a new creation in God.   2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.  The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

See you next week as a surprising but true Dawson’s Dugout is shared and don’t forget to tell your friends about Z Bits.

From the Dugout: For this week’s challenge try to ride something that is similar to a motorcycle, but if you have a motorcycle then ride it with caution.

Hannah’s Hideout

An Answer to Prayer

Wednesday night we read how God used a thunderstorm in our devotion book to spread the gospel.  It spoke of a deacon who was riding on his horse along a trail when all of a sudden it started to thunder.  The deacon took off and while he was riding he saw a house and headed straight to it.  When he got there he just barged on in and startled a woman playing with her son.  He said “Sorry ma’am, I didn’t mean to scare you. You see it’s pouring outside and I need a warm place for the night.  Might I stay here?”  She said, “Sure.”  The next day as he was leaving he gave her some money and said, “Here, go and buy yourself a bible.”  The woman hardly uttered a word but said, “Thank you” and the next day she went out and bought a bible.  For the rest of the story you will have to read it for yourself in How God Used a Thunderstorm and Other Devotional Stories.
On Tuesday night there was a full moon and my friend and I were looking at it.  I asked him, “What made the moon?”  He said “It all happened with a big bang.”  I said “What made the bang?”  He said, “I don’t know.”  I said, “God made the world and He made you and me and the universe and the animals and the plants and well everything else.”  He said, “How can someone make all of that?”  I said, “Let me tell you.”  So I ran inside and got my bible and read Genesis 1 to him.  He had a lot of questions so I answered them with the bible. I made up an illustration for him to help him understand God could create everything.  I said, “Accepting Christ is the best decision you will ever make. It’s even better than a million dollars.”  Then he had to go home.  But I’m hoping and praying that he will accept Christ and tell his friend and his friends will tell their friends, etc.

Scriptures:
John 3:16 “For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

Romans 3:23-25 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  They are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.  God presented Him as propitiation through faith in His blood, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His restraint God passed over the sins previously committed.”

Applications: Look out for these who are lost to help them find their way

Fun and Interesting Fact: Did you know when you tell others about Christ more than likely they will tell others?

Weekly Challenge for you: Try to tell someone about Christ

Hostess Closing Remarks: How precious once again my time with the kids has been as they opened up their hearts and shared.  As you can see, the idea of their grandmother ever riding a motorcycle is something they just can't get past.   They think it is so funny, but it also reminded them of different things on how it can relate to the Christian life.  Hannah did a great job in sharing Christ with a friend in our neighborhood and Nathan has a heart to bring others with him to camp this year.  Sorry, I couldn't find a picture of the banana boat to show you what he is talking about, but the deadline to register for Kidz Kamp is February 19.  So if you have a 2nd-3rd grader that would like to attend, please let me know as soon as possible and I can get you the rest of the information.  It is held at Highland Lakes Baptist Encampment.

My Heart's Prayer: Lord, may I heed the challenges you have laid before me through my children.  Help me to be bolder in sharing Christ, walk in the newness of the life you have given me in Christ, invite others to join me in various fellowship opportunities, and to continue to worship you with our family.  Lord, thank you for amazing me everyday with the precious gifts you have loaned to Scott and I.  They truly are a blessing.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
