My heart is heavy this week regarding the future of our
country. I am not one of those people
who knows everything about everything regarding our government. However, I do try to keep up-to-date with
some of the hot topics. E-mail notices
from sources like Citizen Link, OneNewsNow, Vision to America, and several
others come to my inbox on a regular basis.
Do I read them all? No, but I do
try to glance or at least give a cursory read to the highlights so that I can
pretend to be intelligible when speaking to others about the state of our
nation.
“One thing I have asked from the LORD, that shall I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD and to meditate in His temple.” Psalm 27:4
2012 Prayer
"My goal is to know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, assuming that I will somehow reach the resurrection from among the dead. Not that I have already reached the goal or am already fully mature, but I make ever effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus." Philippians 3: 10-12

We are weak, but God is God
Question: What do storms, chickens, wood chips, and tree
trucks have in common?
Answer: We are weak!!
Tuesday Afternoon:
Busy on the back porch planting peppers, herbs, and peas into egg cartons, Peter
came scurrying in from gathering eggs extremely disturbed. With tears beginning to form in his eyes, he
mumbled something about the chickens being locked out, trapped, and stuck. Seeing his demeanor was not typical for him, this
mother dropped what she was doing and quickly headed to the chicken coop with
him. Approaching the chicken coop, my
eyes fell on three chickens stacked one
on top of another within a small 4 ½ to 5 in gap between our side fence and the
coop.
Dead.

Root of the Righteous
We all know the moment.
The mouth opens and before it can be shut the damage has already been
done. The thought came and was out of my
mouth before I could even think about the ramifications. I guess I knew it was bound to happen. Satan does not like it when the Holy Spirit stirs
things in my heart and earlier this week He did. But until yesterday, I was uncertain as to
how to put it all together. This morning
however, the meaning became clear.

Z Bits of the Week
The writers of Z Bits of the Week have begun their spring break. They said they will have to catch everyone up on what is happening with them after they get off from spring break.
Until next time..."Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life. Don't let your mouth speak dishonestly, and don't let your lips talk deviously. Let your eyes look forward; fix your gaze straight ahead. Carefully consider the path for your feet, and all your ways will be established. Don't turn to the right or to the left; keep your feet away from evil." Proverbs 4:23-27

For the Ups and Downs
Thirteen years ago yesterday, Scott
and I stood before God and many witnesses to proclaim our love and commitment
to one another for the rest of our lives.
Fourteen years ago we met for the first time. I was a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding and
Scott was the best man. Scott gave the
toast to our friends that night and I knew immediately he would be the one I
was going to marry. Driving home that
night, I literally almost got in a wreck I was so star struck. Scott on the other hand didn’t have a clue. When the groom asked Scott what he had done
to Alicia, Scott promptly replied: “Alicia who?”
I love to tell the story of how we
met, how God eventually revealed to Scott who I was, and how over the next year
God wove our hearts closer and closer together.
(There are so many other details to our story, but they will have to be
shared at another time. Or just come
over for some hot tea and we can talk!) But
as much as I thought I was in love thirteen years ago as I stood at the front
of the church dressed my best with all the planning coming to its culmination, nothing
compares to what is in my heart today. It
is not because our marriage mirrors a fairy tale or reflects a Hollywood
movie. No. It is much more than that.

Z Bits of the Week

Volume 5
Hostess Comments: Just a regular week at the Zbylot house. Not! There is never a "normal" week here. The kids were very quick in what they had to share this week, but the message is still clear. Enjoy as they share with you their highlights...

Is God on Vibrate? Part 2
So maybe we have moved our lines of communication with God
to “ringer on” and off of “vibrate.” But
how do we hear when He speaks to us in the hustle and bustle of our lives? We’ve all been in places where the noise of
the restaurant or store that we were in caused us to miss a call even when our
phone was on high and ringing. What does
a life with our God ringer “turned on” and off of vibrate look like?
